AUBURN — New year, same old Lewiston High School.

Riding a 10-game winning streak entering 2015, the Blue Devils began the new year the same way they closed out the old one: with a victory.

Lewiston’s Allison Frechette recorded a hat trick and the Blue Devils stretched their winning streak to 11 games, remaining unbeaten in the process with a 8-1 victory over St. Dominic Academy on Saturday at Norway Savings Bank Arena.

“We knew rolling four lines, the advantage was in our court with them getting tired,” Lewiston coach Ron Dumont said. “That wasn’t really our game plan. We were going to play all four lines anyway, but certainly it’s just a product of numbers.”

Lewiston (11-0) never trailed, which has been the case all season. The game was scoreless for less than a minute as Jordan Mynahan buried a puck past Saints goaltender Taylor Bergeron just 25 seconds into the game.

Frechette netted the next two. Her first came from a shot from the slot off a pass from Jaylin Cloutier. Frechette’s second came from the left of the cage from a near-impossible angle to give Lewiston a 3-0 lead with less than a minute remaining in the first period.

“I was aiming for Mikaela Field and get it to her so she could get a shot in,” Frechette said. “It just tipped the wrong way and went in.”

The Saints (3-5) got one back just before the end of the period. Alexa Kesaris blasted a shot from the right circle, beating Lewiston goaltender Paige Fontaine over her far-side shoulder. It was the first goal the Blue Devils had allowed in nearly 200 minutes of game time.

“Typical Alexa goal. She was working hard, pulled out of the corner and get a nice shot off Paige,” St. Dom’s coach Paul Gosselin said. “Whenever you get a goal on Paige it’s nice. It was extra nice.”

Corinne Laberge reclaimed Lewiston’s three-goal advantage 42 seconds into the second period with a shot that hugged the near-side post.

Frechette completed her hat trick with a short-handed breakaway. Despite the Blue Devils down a player following an interference penalty to Lauren DeBlois, Frechette got behind the St. Dom’s defense and converted on the power play.

“She played great,” Dumont said. “She comes to play every night. We had a few concerns with the crowd. They’re not used to playing in front of so many people. I don’t think that bothered her one bit. She’s focused and loves hockey. She’s never really given me a bad game.”

Mikaela Brown, Lauren DeBlois and Erica Lemieux added goals in the third period.

Bergeron did the best she could trying to slow down Lewiston’s high-octane offense, finishing with 31 saves.

Fontaine and Meagan Gosselin split time in net for the Blue Devils. Fontaine played the first 22:30, making five stops. Gosselin took over from there and made three saves.
