AUGUSTA — Maine Gov. Paul LePage has nominated his chief counsel to serve on the Maine Public Utilities Commission.
LePage announced Thursday that he’s nominating Carlie McLean to take the seat that’s being vacated by PUC Chairman Thomas Welch, who resigned before his term ends in 2017.
McLean worked with the Portland law firm Preti, Flaherty before joining the administration in 2011, serving as senior natural resources policy adviser and general counsel. She became counsel in 2013.
She will appear before the Joint Standing Committee on Energy, Utilities and Technology in the upcoming weeks.
Commissioner Mark Vannoy, who was nominated by LePage, is replacing Welch as chairman. The third commissioner is David Littell, who was nominated by Democratic Gov. John Baldacci.
