The Maine Youth Fish and Game Association will be holding its annual free ice fishing day for kids on Saturday, Jan. 24 at its clubhouse on Pickerel Pond from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
On this date, MYFGA provides everything for a family to have an enjoyable day of ice fishing on Pickerel Pond. Fishing on the pond is limited by the State of Maine regulations to those under age 16 so this truly is a place for children.
Holes are drilled in the ice, and bait and ice fishing traps are provided by MYFGA. Hot and cold beverages and a hot dog lunch are also provided free of charge.
In case of inclement weather, the free ice fishing day will be held Jan. 31.
