AUGUSTA — Traffic on Interstate 95 in the Augusta area will remain snarled all afternoon Wednesday due to a tractor trailer that overturned on Tuesday and remains in the highway’s northbound lane.
Also Wednesday, an overturned truck near mile 103 (West Gardiner) on I-95 has traffic stopped.
Police say the Tuesday crash happened near the Bond Brook Bridge at mile 111, which was also the site of a tractor trailer accident last week. Tuesday’s wreck remained there overnight and was still in the road at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday. Authorities are working to clear the area and say cleanup and removal will take all of Wednesday afternoon.
Police say they are still investigating the cause of the accident. Driver Matthew Blackburn of Portland was not injured.
Meanwhile, the southbound ramp for Exit 80 on Insterstate 95 in Lewiston was closed for a couple hours to replace a concrete barrier damaged Tuesday night by a tractor-trailer crash.
