LEWISTON — The Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community will conduct a free, three-session workshop targeted at individuals considering starting a business. Karleen Andrews, microenterprise specialist for the Western Region of Women, Work and Community, will be the instructor.

The three-part workshop is called “Business Basics.” The first session is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, at the USM Lewiston-Auburn Campus, 51 Westminster St., Lewiston. The remaining sessions will be at the same time on Thursday, Jan. 22, and Jan. 29. Individuals are encouraged to attend all three parts of the workshop.

This course covers the basics of a business plan, marketing and cash planning and is suitable for those thinking about or in the early startup phase of a new business. It will help assess the feasibility, desirability and viability of a business idea and helps participants start writing a business plan. It is designed for individuals that want to learn more about business marketing or financial planning for their business idea.
