BRUNSWICK — A former substance abuse counselor at Mt. Ararat High School in Topsham has been indicted on two felony counts of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs.

Maurice “Bud” Moody, 58, of Brunswick is charged with selling marijuana to, among others, former students at the high school where he worked.

Moody, who now works as a building superintendent in Brunswick, was employed by School Administrative District 75 in Topsham from 1993 to 1997, according to SAD 75 Superintendent Brad Smith.

Moody allegedly sold marijuana in October to confidential informants working with the Brunswick police, according to Detective Rich Cutliffe. Police said that among his clients were former Mt. Ararat High School students.

A Cumberland County grand jury indicted Moody in December, and he was arrested on a warrant by Brunswick police on Dec. 11, Cutliffe said.

Moody was released from the police station on $500 cash bail. No court date was immediately available.
