LEWISTON — Gerard E. Duplissis, 85, of Lewiston died Tuesday, Jan. 20, at d’Youville Pavilion, where he had resided the past three years, and was known as “The Candy Man.”
He was born in Cyr Plantation on April 12, 1929, a son of the late Hilaire and Eva (Lebel) Duplissis.
Gerard married the former Stella Violette on Nov. 15, 1950, and together they settled and raised their two children in Lewiston.
He worked for more than 27 years at Clover Manor in the maintenance department.
Gerard loved to go for long walks and enjoyed being outdoors.
He leaves his wife of 64 years, Stella of Lewiston; his daughter, Marcia Roy and husband, Clayton, of Lewiston; a son, Donnie Duplissis and wife, Diane, of Lewiston, three grandchildren, Scott and wife, Eve Duplissis, of Lewiston, Eric Roy and wife, Shelia, of Lewiston and Jason Duplissis and wife, Millie of Illinois; three great-granddaughters, Madison and Sydney Roy and Amelia Duplissis; four sisters, Cecile Giasson of Florida, Jeanne Michaud of Florida, Anita Bard of Lewiston and Loretta Bard of Florida; a brother, John Duplissis, of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Julie Longley; and three brothers, Ludger, Romeo and Gilbert Duplissis.
