PORTLAND — A coastal storm that’s wreaking havoc across the Northeast is knocking on the door of northern New England.
The National Weather service says the fast-moving storm will begin dumping snow late in the morning and will wrap up by midnight.
Meteorologist Margaret Curtis says coastal areas from Portsmouth, N.H., to Portland could see 6 to 8 inches of snow on Saturday. She says eastern Maine could see even more, 10 to 14 inches of snow.
She says inland regions will see far less, if any, snow. To the west, Vermont also will be spared.
It was the first major snowstorm of the year for most of the Northeast, with snowfall starting Friday across parts of Pennsylvania and Maryland northward to New England.
