WILTON — Members of the Wilton Day Homemakers Extension met on Jan. 8 at St. Luke’s Church, with nine members and two guests present.
The “Thought of the Day” was for a happy, healthy new year.
The “Tip of the day” was to keep gas in the car above half-full so condensation doesn’t build up in the tank. Water can settle to the bottom of the tank and interfere with the fuel system. Also, keep the car in the sun or out of the wind.
The group is collecting change for the Caring Jar to go to an organization, and is collecting cancelled stamps, cut from envelopes with at least a half-inch around the outsides if possible.
Ann Ibarguen will host the next meeting on herbs on Feb. 12. Betty Douglas, Ann Storey and Annette Spevak are on the dinner committee.
Jean Rand and Hazel Flagg will get together to discuss the April Tea.
The door prize was won by Betty Douglas.
All were asked to bring a kitchen tip to the next meeting.
Gwyn Sewall was invited to join the group to talk about Italy. Her family has vacationed there twice, including their second trip in 2014 to the northern region, and she shared a slideshow of pictures she took on her trip and talked about some of the places she saw.
