On Nov. 1, 2014, I sustained several serious injuries after a fall in Auburn. With the grace of God and the wonderful help of first responders, doctors, surgeons, nurses, my loving wife, countless friends, neighbors and family, I am recovering nicely. Although I am still facing at least two less serious operations, the worst is behind me.

I have chosen to resign from my position as an elected official sitting on the Auburn School Board. I will remain active on at least two sub-committees for our school district and also the Citizens Advisory Committee for the city. There will be an election to fill my position and also an opening for one at-large candidate.

I am hoping that those positions will be filled by two people who truly care about this community. But, most of all, people who care about the future of the students and what they can potentially bring back to this community after the formal part of their education has prepared them for the next stage in their lives.
