Sabattus Seniors cancel meeting

SABATTUS — The Sabattus Seniors are canceling their meeting for Feb. 5 due to the snowstorm.

The next meeting will be on Thursday, March 5.

Church pantry seeks ongoing donations

AUBURN — The Auburn United Methodist Church is requesting the following items that are need on a weekly basis at the High Street Food Pantry: peanut butter, toilet paper and pasta sauce.

Items can be dropped off at the Church Office at 439 Park Ave.

Dow Seniors to meet; postpone Valentine lunch

AUBURN — Robin Dow Seniors’ Valentine Luncheon originally set for Feb. 11 has been postponed until Feb. 25.

At the Jan. 28 meeting, 23 people attended, including four new members. Regardless of the cold, those present had a great time.

On Wednesday, Feb. 11, the group will again meet at Schooner Estates. Doors open at 10:30. Tickets will be sold for the Feb. 25 luncheon. This will be the last time to buy these tickets. A time will be taken for a board meeting.

Attendance prize winners were Mary Tassineri and Bruce Macomber. Red ticket prizes, $15 to Irving Grant, $10 Callie Adams, $5 to Opal Grant. Blue ticket prizes were $5 each to Opal Grant, Nancy Roy and Mary Tyler. Yellow ticket winners, $5 each, were Pat Donahue, Janice Brackenbury and Nancy Duprey.

Dillingham DAR to meet Feb. 11

AUBURN — The Mary Dillingham Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Rolandeau’s Restaurant.

The speaker will be Doug Hodgkin from the Androscoggin Historical Society.

There will also be a vote on a proposed merger of the Mary Dillingham and Burnt Meadow chapters of DAR. Prospective members are welcome.

La Leche League meeting Feb. 12

AUBURN — Expectant women and breastfeeding mothers are all invited to a La Leche League meeting to be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at 102 Bennett Ave. Babies are always welcome.

This month’s discussion will focus on “Breastfeeding: Great Beginnings,” which will focus on preparing for nursing your baby at birth, establishing and maintaining breastfeeding and adjusting to family life with a new baby.

Pregnancy is an ideal time to begin attending meetings, and mothers find continued attendance provides support throughout their breastfeeding experience. All concerns about breastfeeding are welcome for discussion.

CMCC to offer ‘Advanced Excel’

AUBURN — The Corporate and Community Services Department at Central Maine Community College will offer “Advanced Excel: Functions and Data Analysis” from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20. Deadline for registration is Feb. 13.

This one-day, hands-on course teaches the basics of building custom, nested and 3D formulas; how to use powerful Excel functions such as IF, AND, OR and VLOOKUP to create “smart” spreadsheets; how to create and use named ranges; and how to use Excel’s table function to manage lists. Participants will learn how to analyze and extract custom information using pivot tables and the SUMIF, COUNTIF, AVERAGEIF, DGET, and DSUM functions. The course will also cover how to create dynamic charts from raw spreadsheet data.

Hospital to hold Valentine bake sale

BRUNSWICK — A “Sweets for the Sweet” Valentine bake sale will be presented by Mid Coast Hospital Auxiliary from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at the Mid Coast Hospital Café Corridor, 123 Medical Center Drive.

Fudge, cookies, cinnamon rolls, scones, coffee cakes, tarts, pies and other delicious treats will be for sale. Proceeds benefit Mid Coast Hospital.
