He gave you his name and contact information. I have since misplaced the column. I hope you can contact him again as we are having the same problem of very low volume. We live in Weld and have DirectTV. Thank you in advance for your help. — Mary DeCristofaro, maryd@tdstelme.net

ANSWER: Sun Spots looked up that column from Jan. 13, 2011. The NESN employee offered two suggestions for remedying the problem, which at the time the station was aware of and working on.

One is if you are using an older, standard-definition television, you may experience this problem during some road game broadcasts.

The other problem occurs if you have a newer TV but have the wrong audio feed selected. Some viewers have their audio set to hyper surround sound or some other type of setting to mimic surround sound when only stereo audio is available, which is the case for NESN’s standard definition channel. You should reset your audio to stereo sound.

Unfortunately, the person Sun Spots spoke to then seems to have moved on. The new contact information is Gary Roy; email at groy@nesn.com or call 617-710-9908. Good luck!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I visited a restaurant in the Farmington area on Friday, Jan. 23, and hoped to use a Rite Aid rewards points restaurant coupon that I had earned. The server stated that they do not accept those coupons. It was for $15 off from $30. We stayed and ate. It was really good and we left a tip. But now I want to know what to do with the Rite Aid reward restaurant coupon. Thanks for listening. — No Name, Bethel.

ANSWER: Sun Spots called Rite-Aid and eventually chatted with Melissa G. in its Customer Care Center. She apologized for this happening to you and said you should call the rewards department at 1-888-349-9817. Ask to speak with a supervisor. You will need to have your wellness card number and the phone number associated with the card available. Sun Spots hopes this helps.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am the activities coordinator at Montello Heights here in Lewiston and I’ve been asked to find a person who might volunteer a couple of hours to instruct a few tenants and employees on using the iPad.

We all know the basics, but feel there are many more aspects of the iPad that we could learn to use.

Call Marlene at 207-786-7149 if you are available to help. Thank you!
