LEWISTON — College for ME-Androscoggin announces the spring 2015 recipients of two scholarships for adult students.

The Thomas W. Musgrave and Beulah Long Musgrave Fund Scholarship is funded through the Maine Community Foundation’s Adult Learner Partnership Program, which provides scholarships and grant support along with learning opportunities to organizations that help adult learners transition into two-year and four-year degree-granting programs.

The scholarship provides adults already enrolled in college with $1,000 for tuition.

Recipients are: Tonya Bailey-Curry of Lewiston, USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College; Trisha Hodgkins of Lewiston, USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College; Kristina Larracey of Mechanic Falls, USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College; Kate Lydon of Lewiston, USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College; Kimberly Mitchell of Mechanic Falls, Kaplan University; Michael Roy of Lewiston, University of Maine Augusta; Denise Vaillancourt of Lewiston, University of Maine Augusta; and Dezarai Walker of Greene, Central Maine Community College.

The First Class Scholarship and Cohort Program provides funds to pay the tuition of the first college classes that adult recipients enroll in as they start or restart college. The funds are provided by College for ME-Androscoggin.

The recipient is Anthony Quatrano of Lisbon Falls, who will be attending USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College.

Jan Phillips, executive director of College for ME-Androscoggin, applauded the scholarship recipients. “We are so impressed with the determination of the adults we work with to succeed in college,” said Phillips. “They are undeterred by obstacles and eager to create better lives for themselves, their children and their community.”

College for ME-Androscoggin is a local nonprofit working on college aspiration, access and attainment initiatives in Androscoggin County.
