Heat Dance IV is a family and community event to raise money for the Franklin County Ecumenical Heating Fund and its “50 for 50” program of fuel assistance.
In the winter of 2013-14, the Ecu Heat Fund provided 50-gallon fuel deliveries to 353 household throughout Franklin County. The heating season includes the months of November through March. So far this heating season (2014-15), ECU HEAT has served the same number of households from November through Feb. 4.
So far, 838 neighbors in need have been warmed by the generosity of churches, businesses, individuals, service organizations, United Way and the Sandy River Charitable Foundation. So far this winter $57,541 worth of fuel assistance has been provided, with $1,750 of the cost being paid by the recipients themselves, who contribute a $50 share toward the delivery. The Ecu Heat Fund has paid $39,991.
But, winter isn’t over yet. While applicants are only eligible for one 50-gallon fuel delivery (or equivalent) per heating season, more assistance is sure to be requested by new households as the winter continues.
