BANGOR — Bangor Savings Bank Foundation donates $100,000 to Maine-based nonprofit organizations throughout the state each year through their Community Matters More campaign. CMM is an opportunity for people in Maine to show their support for nonprofits doing important work in Maine.

The organizations listed on the ballot will each receive a $1,000 grant and will be in the running for a top award of $5,000. The top 20 write-in vote recipients will receive $1,000 and also be eligible for the $5,000 top award.

The voting takes place during the month of February with winners announced in April. Each person can vote one time, selecting up to three nonprofits.

Vote at www.bangor.com/cmm. Online voting ends Feb. 28 at 11:59.59 p.m. Ballots are also available at Bangor Savings Bank locations.

The following are area organizations seeking votes.

Hope Association

Hope Association of Rumford has been selected for inclusion on Bangor Savings Bank Foundation’s 2015 Community Matters More ballot.

Hope Association is a private, nonprofit corporation that has been serving individuals with intellectual and related disabilities in the Greater Rumford area since 1956. The focus of its services is person-centered; helping individuals to stretch and grow in all life areas. Hope Association has also assisted individuals with various disabilities find and maintain employment since 2001.

Paper ballots are also available at Hope Association.

Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice

Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice has been selected for inclusion on the Bangor Savings Bank Foundation’s 2015 Community Matters More ballot.

Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice has been providing residents of Maine with high quality home health, hospice and supportive care services for more than 49 years. In 2005 it opened Maine’s first in-patient hospice facility in Auburn.

Domestic violence centers

Three of Maine’s domestic violence resource centers have been nominated.

The organizations are Next Step Domestic Violence Project, Spruce Run WomanCare Alliance and Safe Voices.

The resource centers provide critical support and services to victims and survivors of abuse and violence in our communities, as well as community education, training, and consultation on domestic and sexual violence, stalking and dating violence.

As each person has three votes, these three groups are asking voters to vote a “straight ticket” to end domestic abuse in Maine.

Greater Androscoggin Humane Society

The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society is Lewiston is seeking the public’s help to win $1,000 for a third year in a row.

To vote, visit the link above and write Greater Androscoggin Humane Society in under “Androscoggin/Franklin/Oxford.”

Western Maine Play Museum

Western Maine Play Museum is Wilton is currently trying to raise funds for renovation, in hopes of opening this year.

A one-time vote for the play museum may lead to a $5,000 donation from Bangor Savings Bank.

Last year, the Farmington Historic Society won $1,000 as a write-in.

Now that the play museum is a 501(c)3, it’s eligible for the campaign.

Franklin County Animal Shelter

Franklin County Animal Shelter is seeking write-in votes to help the animals it cares for.
