FARMINGTON — The Western Region of the Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community is offering free, small business planning classes for Western Maine.

The three-session workshops, called Business Basics, will be conducted in both Farmington and Mexico by Karleen Andrews, former manager of Titcomb Mountain. The course is suitable for those thinking about or in the early start-up phase of a new business.

The sessions will cover the basics of a business plan, marketing and cash planning and will help people assess the feasibility, desirability and viability of a business idea. Sessions are free and open to both men and women, but preregistration is required.

The class is being offered twice, first in Farmington, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. starting Monday, Feb. 23, and continuing on Monday, March 2 and 9, at the Women, Work and Community office at 108 Perham St., Farmington.

Business Basics is also being offered from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. beginning Tuesday, March 24, and continuing on March 31 and April 7 at Region 9 Adult Education, 377 River Road, Mexico.

To register for either of those business classes, email [email protected] or call Andrews at 207-557-1885.

Women, Work and Community, administrated by the University of Maine in Augusta, will be conducting additional career planning, small business and asset-management classes in Lewiston, Auburn, Farmington and Mexico in the coming months.
