1940 – 2015
LEWISTON — David Dee, 74, of Dill Street in Lewiston, died at his home on Tuesday, Feb. 10, after a very sudden illness.
He was born in Salem, Mass., on July 25, 1940, a son of the late William and Marguerite (Dwyer) Dee. He was educated in Auburn and graduated from Edward Little High School, Class of 1961. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Reserve.
David was a police officer for the Auburn Police Department, as well as the chief of police for the Sabattus Police Department. He had been driving buses for many years, driving for Hudson Bus and Northeast Charter, where he drove the Lewiston Maineiacs bus, and was most recently driving for the Oxford Hills school district.
In his younger years, he was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Lewiston. David was a member of the New Auburn Social Club, the 20 M Club and the Pastime Club. He was a founding member of Sabattus Recreation and enjoyed coaching for many years. He also enjoyed driving stock cars at Oxford Plains Speedway in his younger years.
David leaves his daughter, Kim Laberge and her husband, Scott, of Lewiston; two grandchildren, Caleb and Corinne Laberge of Lewiston; three sisters, Judith Moreira and husband, Donald, of South Carolina, Marguerite Murtagh and husband, Patrick, of Arizona and Kathryn Dee of Florida; a sister-in-law, Sally Dee, of Auburn; his two former wives and dear friends, Marlene Parent and Jane Burns; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Farrington; and three brothers William Dee, James “Warren” Dee and John “Jacky” Dee.
