LISBON — Topsham Grange 37 Grand Master Mike Labbe presented grant money supporting Lisbon students to computer teacher Laurie Cincotta on Jan. 23.

“Topsham Grange members have been community partners in education with Lisbon Schools since 2007,” said Monica Millhime, grant writer for the district. “In early years of our partnership, the grant was dedicated to dictionaries for each third-grade student through the National Words for Thirds Dictionary Project. With the district-wide goal in Lisbon Schools to embrace all technology aspects in all content areas, the grant monies this year will be dedicated to purchasing a computer-based software program, Brain Pop.”

The animated educational site for children features content areas in science, social studies, English, math, art, music, health, engineering and technology.

“Thanks to the Topsham Grange for helping to support the subscription for the Brain Pop program,” said Cincotta, “a program that is aligned with the common core standards for our state and provides wonderful support to the regular classroom curriculum. The program is used to teach over 500 students in grades 1 through 5.”
