WILTON — Police said a Jay man who broke an officer’s nose and blackened her eyes when she tried to arrest him Friday night, was charged Monday with assault on a police officer.

Geoffrey Labbe, 54, was driving on Route 4 near the Jay town line at approximately 9:30 p.m. Friday when Wilton officer Courtney Krause stopped him for speeding, Chief Heidi Wilcox said Monday.

Krause discovered Labbe he was driving with a suspended license and when she tried to arrest him he struck her in the face with his elbow, the chief said.

Krause took him to Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington where he was booked on charges of driving after suspension and resisting arrest, Wilcox aid.

Labbe was bailed Saturday morning on $150 cash.

Krause finished her shift Friday night and went to a hospital Saturday morning and was treated for a fractured nose and bruised eyes, Wilcox said.

Labbe was released from jail before Wilcox arrived to charge him with assault of an officer.

“We have been actively looking for Labbe all weekend,” Wilcox said. “He was arrested (Monday in Jay) and I brought him to jail without incident.”
