1956 – 2015
SCARBOROUGH — Susan “Sue” Michel, 58, of Lewiston, died Saturday, Feb. 14, at Gosnell Hospice House, following a stroke at her home on Feb. 1.
Born in Lewiston, the daughter of Roland and Bernice Lamare Michel, she graduated from St. Dominic High School in the Class of 1974, and attended St. Joseph’s College.
She was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Family Church, where she served as Eucharistic minister and lector, and was a former member of the parish council. Sue worked in the development office at Bates College for the past 30 years and also worked at The Fortin Group Funeral Homes as an attendant.
She enjoyed going out to eat with her mom and will be remembered for her strong faith, devotion to her church and caring for her mom after the death of her dad in 1981.
She is survived by her mom, Bernice Michel, of Lewiston; her brother, Richard B. Michel, of Portland; several close friends; and her Bates family.
The family wishes to thank doctors and staff in the emergency room at Central Maine Medical Center, the SCU staff at Maine Medical Center in Portland and the staff at Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough.
