Maine’s Bureau of Insurance is warning current and former Anthem policyholders about an email phishing scam related to the data breach announced recently.

Anthem has informed the bureau that a phishing attempt has been discovered. Anyone receiving an email claiming to be from Anthem should not reply to the message, click on links, open any attachments, or provide personal information.

Anthem will not call or email members about the cyber attack and data breach. The company will contact its current and former members via mail delivered by the U.S. Postal Service.

Consumers with questions or concerns about health insurance issues can contact the Bureau of Insurance toll-free at 800-300-5000.
