FARMINGTON — The Farmington Public Library and Literacy Volunteers of Franklin and Somerset Counties are hosting a poetry contest, in honor of Shakespeare’s 451st birthday.

Up to three poems per poet may be submitted. Each poem must be under 60 lines.

There are three age categories: Under 16 years of age, 16 to 25  and over 25.

Deadline for submissions is March 30. Poems should be dropped off at the Farmington Public Library.

Include contact information and age category on the back of each poem.

Winners will be announced on April 17.

There are three prizes for each category: first prize is $50, second prize is $25 and third prize is a $20 gift certificate to the LVFSC book sale.

All are welcome to attend the public reading of the winning poems on Thursday, April 23.
