1936 – 2015

BRIDGTON — Odna Grace Hodgkin Skillings Wiggin, 78, of Bridgton, died early Friday evening, Feb. 20, at the Bridgton Hospital.

She was born on May 15, 1936, in Madison, a daughter of Vernon L. and Ethel V. (Jewett) Hodgkin Sr. She was educated in New Gloucester schools and earned her diploma from Lake Region High School’s Adult Education program.

Odna was a loving homemaker to her husband and children. She did work outside of the home periodically, including writing town column pieces for the Portland Press Herald and Bridgton News, staffing the Bridgton Chamber of Commerce information booth and at the Emphasis on Maine store on Main Street of Bridgton.

She was fanatical about her flowers, especially white carnations, and a good science fiction novel.

Odna is survived by her husband, Clyde Vernon “Chip” Wiggin Jr., whom she married on Dec. 22, 1974, in Cape Elizabeth; her children, Christine L. Skillings of Bridgton, Garry P. Skillings of Berlin, N.H., Cynthia L. Barker and her husband, Terry, of Wilmington, N.C., Cheryl L. Fulcher of Sweden, Gwendolyn E. Skillings of Fryeburg, and Patricia B. Wiggin and her husband, Warlock U. Hevel of Pacific City, Ore.; a stepson, Phillip W. Rand and his wife, Noreen, of Auburn; her siblings, Vernon L. “Buster” Hodgkin of Lewiston, Ernest R. “Sonny” Hodgkin of Meridan, Conn., Gail Martin of Norway, Frances Perkins of Mechanic Falls, Maxine Teague of New Gloucester, Sharon Dufault of North Attleboro, Mass., Charles “Charlie” Hodgkin of Norfolk, Va., and Audrey Forbes of Windham; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, David W. Skillings; a daughter, Carol E. Lolley; siblings, Lorraine Sloate, Herbie Jewett, Carolyn, Andrew, Sylvia, and Kathleen Hodgkin.
