1951 – 2015
LEWISTON — Robert “Bob” William Jones, 63, of Lewiston, passed away Thursday, Feb. 19, surrounded by his family at home after an unexpected but courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Lewiston on June 14, 1951, he was the son of Chester and Florence Oldham Jones of Auburn. He attended Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1969.
He was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, proud hunter and master mechanic.
In 1971, he married the love of his life, Diane Roy of Auburn, his wife of 43 years. They had three daughters. Bob loved his life for the people in it. He always had words of encouragement and lived his life with a laugh.
He was a very kind man and never said no to helping anyone. His life was filled with camping trips, fishing in the boat, hunting the big bucks and watching NASCAR. He was known for building the best car motors. There was little he didn’t know, and nothing he couldn’t fix. He was a genius mechanic who loved what he did. He was never too busy for a story and will be remembered by so many for always having a joke to share.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Jones of Lewiston; his three daughters, Kimberly A. Jones of Lewiston, Kristina R. Jones of Mechanic Falls, and Kera L. Gauthier of Sabattus; his two sisters, Diana Parker and husband, Dan, of Mechanic Falls and Betty Morin and husband, James, of Lewiston; and his five grandchildren, Joseph Lien, Taylor Lien, Dustin Beard, Cheyenne Beard and Robert (Bobby) Jones.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Faye Martin, of South Paris.
Our sincere thanks to all who cared for Bob from Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
