FARMINGTON — Dunkin’ Donuts closed its shop inside Walmart on Monday.

“The lease ended,” owner Dan Silvestre said.

Although customers and Walmart employees have enjoyed the coffee shop location over the last 10 years, he said financially it was not a good decision to sign another 10-year lease.

“It is bittersweet,” Silvestre added. “We’ve been here so long and have a great relationship with Walmart and their employees.”

About half of the business comes from Walmart employees taking their breaks, he said.

Silvestre owns four Dunkin’ Donut shops: one each in Auburn and Livermore Falls and two in Farmington, one at the Mt. Blue Shopping Center on the Wilton Road, which is across from Walmart, and one on Main Street.

Silvestre said he may open a shop in a proposed convenience store in New Sharon.
