NEW GLOUCESTER — A handwritten note found in the girls’ bathroom prompted an evacuation of Gray-New Gloucester High School on Monday.
According to a news release from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were alerted to a bomb threat written on a note that the staff discovered around 1:50 p.m.
The school was evacuated.
Bomb detection dogs from the Maine State Police and Portland Police Department were called in to check the school. Nothing was found.
The release said deputies and detectives will continue to investigate leads. When apprehended, those responsible will be prosecuted, facing felony charges and costs associated with the evacuation and investigation.
