PARIS— It’s 1861. The dawn of the U.S. Civil War. Col. Ashford O’Hare, in dire financial straights and desperate to marry off his daughters, Scarlett and Melody, is throwing a cotillion at his tobacco plantation, Sassafrass. Out of his plight, he has invited every eligible bachelor from “here to the Chattahoochee,” including the Pickney twins, Montgomery and Montague, who are rich, well-heeled . . .  and dumb. Rumor has it there’s a Yankee spy at the affair, also. Is the spy one of the O’Hares? One of the Pickneys? Or maybe the stranger who just shows up, uninvited.
