PARIS — On Wednesday, March 4, Rex Beisel and Craig Cote of Barred Owl Daylilies in Otisfield are scheduled as the second presentation in this year’s McLaughlin Garden lecture series. They will illustrate and explain how they landscaped their property and made room for hundreds of varieties of daylilies including some that they hybridize themselves. Their lecture title is “Evolution of a Garden.”
Cote and Beisel are members of the Southern Maine Daylily and Hosta Society and have started a mail order business selling daylilies from their home. Their large landscaped property includes beds for their business as well as beautifully designed display gardens featuring many different shrubs, trees and flowers.
The presentation will be held at 103 Main St., next door to the garden beginning at 4 p.m. Come at 3:30 for tea prior to the lecture or visit the gift shop in the McLaughlin house.
The lectures are open to the public. No reservations are needed. There is no charge but donations will be accepted to further the maintenance of the historic garden and buildings.
