JAY — A subcontractor for a company proposing to develop the North Jay White Quarry will be doing some blasting Monday morning.
Polycor, based in Quebec, Canada, is proposing to build a plant to make granite curbs off the Old Jay Hill Road near the quarry.
The blasting company is scheduled to do some blasting at the quarry on top of the mountain, according to an email Town Manager Shiloh LaFreniere received from Kevin Jack, a director of operations at Polycor.
There should only be one or two blasts, he wrote.
He also noted that he just received notice on Friday that the blasting was going to be done, and he apologized.
“This is exceptional and is necessary to the development of the quarry,” Jack said.
