JAY — All Regional School Unit 73 students were sent home early from school Wednesday morning after a water main break in the vicinity of Spruce Mountain High School.
Superintendent Kenneth Healey said the problem was discovered when staff arrived at Spruce Mountain Middle School and discovered there was no water. Students had access to the bathrooms at the high school for two hours before they lost water there. Thereafter, they were bused to Jay Elementary School to use the bathrooms.
Lunch was served to students before they were transported home.
The Livermore Falls Water District was expected to complete the repair in the afternoon.
Healey said classes will be held Thursday “provided we have water.” No makeup day was scheduled because students had a half day of school.
