RUMFORD — The Board of Selectmen has scheduled two public hearings and votes on the town’s initiated article requests for 6 p.m. March 16 and 23 at Rumford Falls Auditorium.
The Finance Committee will meet at 6 p.m. April 9 at Rumford Falls Auditorium for a public hearing and vote on the initiated article recommendations.
Initiated articles, or requests from organizations for donations, are decided by a “yes or no” vote during the town’s annual referendum ballot. If voters decide to approve the initiated article, they would choose between the selectmen’s and Finance Committee’s recommendations.
Additional public hearings and votes will be held on the following dates:
* Board of Selectmen public hearing and vote on department budgets, 6 p.m. March 23 and 26.
* Finance Committee public hearing and vote on department budgets, 6 p.m. April 13 and 14.
* Board of Selectmen public hearing on ordinance requests, 6 p.m. April 21 and 27.
