BANGOR – Bangor Savings Bank will collect jars of peanut butter and jelly to benefit local food pantries and other hunger relief programs in Maine during March. Donations can be made at any of the 56 Bangor Savings Bank branch locations throughout the state.

“Since launching this program in 2012, Bangor Savings’ Peanut Butter & Jelly Drive continues to grow. Last year the bank collected more than 7,000 jars of peanut butter and jelly,” said Lisa Bird, assistant vice president and senior community relations coordinator at Bangor Savings Bank. “The goal this year is to increase that number so that more families will have access to a protein-rich, non-perishable food that will make a big difference in their daily lives.”

Bangor Savings Bank is asking the public to help by dropping off jars of peanut butter and jelly — all sizes and types accepted — during March at any Bangor Savings Bank branch.

Donors are encouraged to take a “selfless selfie” while they are at the bank branch donating the peanut butter and jelly and send it to [email protected]. For each selfie received, the bank will donate an additional two jars of peanut butter to the drive. The selfies will be shared on the Bangor Savings Bank Facebook page during March as well.

The peanut butter and jelly donations will be distributed to a food relief program in each of the 56 branch location communities.
