I cannot believe Lewiston City Councilors approved changes to Lisbon Street in Lewiston (story, Sun Journal, March 4). The city will eliminate the right-turn lanes on Pine, Ash and Chestnut streets. That is nuts. And to have a five-foot bicycle lane is crazy.

The councilors who opposed the project, Leslie Dubois, Shane Bouchard and Michael Lachance, had enough common sense to vote against the plan.

What about delivery trucks, ambulances and firetrucks trying to get by traffic? Where will they park and how will cars get out of the way?

The Lisbon Street project is a disaster waiting to happen.

On another subject, Lewiston’s Highway Department needs to do some street repairs. There are some streets, including Boston Avenue, Noble Street, Stevens Street and Bartlett Street (on the hill) that need attention.

Lewiston needs more shopping stores and fast-food places, but Lewiston isn’t business-friendly on lower Lisbon Street.

Lewiston doesn’t need the proposed street plan for Lisbon Street.

It is a waste of the taxpayers’ money.
