More than 3,000 people witnessed an extraordinary Class A state championship boys hockey game at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on Saturday, March 7.

Both St. Dominic Academy of Auburn and Scarborough High School displayed the talent and competitiveness worthy of the two best high school hockey teams in the state.

But beyond the box score and the excitement of a well-played game, I witnessed a moment of sportsmanship at the conclusion that I will remember for a long time. The Scarborough High School goalie, Ben Bragg, skated the length of the ice to offer comfort to St. Dominic goalie Kyle Welsh, who had just allowed the winning goal in the double-overtime classic.

Congratulations to both teams for representing their respective schools and communities with class.
