PARIS — Longtime Paris Elementary School Principal Jane Fahey has submitted her letter of retirement from the post she has held for 15 years, Superintendent Rick Colpitts announced at Monday night’s SAD 17 board meeting.

Additionally, he announced that Martha O’Leary, food service director for the past 12 years, will step down at the end of this month.

Fahey served as principal at Madison Elementary School, Fox Elementary School and Paris Elementary School when it was constructed in 2007.

The retirement of O’Leary, who has been co-director this year with Jodi Truman, was not unexpected, he said. Truman will take over the duties of director.

In other news, Colpitts said he will start meeting with selectmen in the eight district towns April 1 to review the Budget Committee’s proposed spending plan for fiscal 2015-16.

The committee is expected to finalize its proposal by the end of April, followed by a presentation to the school board May 4. The district budget hearing and meeting will be held at 7 p.m. June 4 at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School Forum. The budget validation referendum in all eight towns is set for June 9.

Colpitts said he is meeting with selectmen to not only present the budget, but to get feedback from town officials.

The board approved the superintendent’s recommendation to extend the Central Office administrators’ contracts by one year. They include Assistant Superintendent Patrick Hartnett, Business Manager Cathy Coffey, Special Services Director Jane Morse and Curriculum Director Heather Manchester.

Nelson Baillargeon, director of facilities, provided the board with an update on the district heating plan that Colpitts said will, in part, ensure all above-ground oil tanks are secure from leaking. Several tanks that have been problematic — such as ones at Oxford Hills Middle School, Paris Elementary School and Hebron Station School — were removed. Where possible, wood pellet or propane boilers were installed.
