The Corner in Lewiston has added to its prestige, not only as the executive office of the local democratic party, but also the breeding spot for a revival of boxing, the game that died in Lewiston not long ago. On the door that leads to the offices of Congressman McGillicuddy and the Hon. F. A. Morey were two signs announcing a boxing exhibition that will be held in Forrestal’s hall Saturday night. Congressman McGillicuddy noticed the placards on the door Friday Morning. For a moment he moved not, then with what might be an angry swoop of the arm, he ripped one and then the other from the door, preserving the reputation of the Corner.
50 years ago, 1965
Four used automobile engines were presented to the Manpower Development and Training automotive center, Main Street, Auburn, on Thursday morning by R. I. Mitchell Inc. William H. Dunton, MDTA coordinator, said the motors will be used by the trainees at the school in learning the theory of automobile engine operation and repair. The automotive instructor, Donald Taylor, will mount the motors on stands so that they will be at a convenient working height.

Central Maine Medical Center has received some 40 new car seats from the Department of Human Services for use in its infant-toddler car seat program. Susan Bowie, assistant director of CMMC’s Volunteer Services Department, said parents of children ranging in age from newborn to 4 years old may rent these low-cost safety seats with the payment of a refundable deposit.
