FARMINGTON — Henry “John” Sonier Jr., 91 a resident of Jay, passed away Thursday morning, March 19, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 14, 1924, in Old Town, the son of Henry Sonier Sr. and Rose (Arsenault) Sonier. He graduated from Milo High School in 1942. On Sept. 18, 1944, he married Yvette A. Frechette in Jay.
He was employed at International Paper, where he worked in the storeroom for 41 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima, where he was a communicant. He was also a member of the Quarter Century Club at International Paper.
He enjoyed woodcarving and playing horseshoes and cribbage.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Yvette A. Sonier; three daughters, Linda Oliver and her husband, Louis, of Turner, Carol Triba and her husband, David, of Farmington, and Nancy Adams and her husband, Vernon, of Jay; one brother, Richard of Oldsmar, Fla.; and one sister, Lorraine Albert of Oldsmar, Fla.; six grandchildren: eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
