1941 – 2015
LEWISTON — Pauline M. Rodrigue, 73, of Lewiston, died Monday morning, March 23, at home, surrounded by her family, after a brave battle with cancer.
She was born in Lewiston on Dec. 13, 1941, a daughter of Leo and Bernadette Gelinas Fournier. She graduated from St. Dominic High School, Class of 1960, and was a lifelong resident of Lewiston.
On Nov. 19, 1960, she married Robert A. Rodrigue, also of Lewiston. Together, they had three children, Patricia, Rachel and Geoffrey.
Pauline was known as an efficient, hard worker, having many careers, including a being a bank teller at two local banks, an office assistant at W.D. Matthews, a home interior displayer and a postal worker in Auburn and Sabattus.
After retiring from the U.S. Postal Service in 2003, she worked part-time for Hallmark Greeting Cards, a job she enjoyed immensely and continued after her cancer diagnosis. After retiring, Pauline started making quilts, a hobby she had wanted to learn for a long time. She made beautiful quilts as gifts for family and friends, but she also donated numerous quilts, each lovingly made with her personal signature, to raise money for cancer research. She also loved to collect and use vintage sewing machines.
Pauline enjoyed her winter home with her husband in Zephyrhills, Fla., for the past ten years.
She leaves behind her husband, Robert (Bob) of 55 years; two daughters, Patricia Rodrigue and her husband, Warren Evans, of Windham, and Rachel Nadeau and her husband, James, of Lewiston; and her son, Geoffrey and his wife, Desiree Portner, of Richland Hills, Texas; her sisters, Rita Carroll of Auburn and Priscille Allard of Durham; and her brother, Marcel Fournier of Aurora, Colo.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents.
Pauline’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Hematology and Oncology Associates, Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice, and the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing.
