RUMFORD — What will get a teenager to Mountain Valley High School early on Friday mornings? For some, it’s a good book and a chance to discuss it with other students. Cupcakes also help.
That’s the formula librarian Mary Gamble has found to work for the All About the Books book club.
The club recently read “The Catcher in the Rye,” has moved on to “Uncertain Glory” by Maine author Lea Wait, and is about to start “We Were Liars” by e lockhart.
Junior Kelli Trenoweth said “The Catcher in the Rye” was her favorite book.
It deals with identity, belonging and connections, issues teenagers confront daily.
Sophomore Jazz White said, “I like that the book has so much emotion in it.”
Other members include Cheyenne White, Abby LaBrash, Alexis Vining, Emma Somers and Casey Glover.
The club meets Fridays at 7:30 a.m. and is open to all students.
