Heywood Club to meet April 13

NORWAY — The Heywood Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, April 13, at the clubhouse.

Cleaning, pizza and making plans for the upcoming summer events will be on the agenda. Members are welcome to invite their neighbors to join them.

Cemetary Association to hold annual meeting

WEST PARIS — The West Paris Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at the West Paris Library.

The Trustees urge anyone interested to attend. Anyone associated with the Cemetery is asked to take part in planning and upkeep for the future.

Waterford Community Supper

WATERFORD — The Wilkins Community House will host a Community Pot Luck Supper on Thursday, April 16, at 6 p.m. The community house is located on Plummer Hill in Waterford Flat next to the church.

Hosts for this month are the Holmstocks and the Murphys. Bring a friend or neighbor and a dish to share and enjoy chatting with new and old friends. Rolls and beverage will be provided.

Finnish-American Heritage Society to hold meeting

WEST PARIS — The Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will hold their first meeting of the year on Sunday, April 19, at the Finnish-American Heritage Center, 8 Maple St., West Paris.

The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. with a membership potluck dinner, which will be followed by the annual meeting and election of officers.

Norway Library to host Maine and the Civil War

NORWAY — Norway Memorial Library invites the public to attend Maine and the Civil War at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 21. Guest speaker Earle G. Shettleworth Jr., Maine State Historian, will present his lecture on Maine Civil War photography.

Shettleworth will illustrate how Maine citizens were impacted during the Civil War at home and in the battlefield using photographic slides.

Gallant to demonstrate wooden pen making

BRYANT POND — Gary Gallant of Rumford will demonstrate the art of making wooden pens at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at the Whitman Memorial Library in Bryant Pond. 

The program is open to the public at no charge. Light refreshments will be served.

Locke Mills Union Church to host indoor yard sale

LOCKE MILLS — The Locke Mills Union Church will host an indoor yard sale from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 25, by Ladies Circle.

Drug Take Back Program to be held April 25

SOUTH PARIS — The next statewide Drug Tack Back Program will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 25.

The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office will have two “safe disposal” locations at the South Paris and Bethel offices. Participating in the program in Oxford County are the Rumford, Mexico, Dixfield, Paris, Norway and Oxford and Fryeburg police departments.

The Federal Drug Enforcement Agency will no longer be coordinating the Drug Take Back Program. The Maine Sheriff’s Association will oversee the program.
