RUMFORD — Mountain Valley High School Principal Matt Gilbert announced Students of the Trimester at a schoolwide assembly.

The freshman recipient was Brooke Carver. Her parents, Deb and Chris Carver, joined her on stage.

The anonymous teacher who nominated her wrote, “This students has outstanding effort and performance. She contributes her wit and her wisdom to the classroom environment.”

For the second time in a row, two sophomores were chosen – Abigail LaBrash and Travis Palmer. Jodi and Andy LaBrash joined LaBrash on stage. Marcy Michaud and Travis Palmer Sr. also congratulated Palmer.

“Abigail LaBrash is hard working, diligent, polite and pleasant to have in class. Travis Palmer always does exemplary work, seems interested and enthusiastic about everything. He is very creative, kinds and helpful to peers and teachers,” Gilbert announced from their nomination paper.

Junior Eduardo Esteban represented the junior class and his host parents, Susan Olsen and Gene Chambers, were on hand to congratulate him. Esteban is an exchange student from Zaragoza, Spain.

According to his nominating teacher, “He is a polite and respectful person who has fit in very well.”

Finally, Senior Jacob Simard rounded out the students honored. His grandfather, Roger Simard, joined him on stage.

“The main reason this student deserves this award is he would never expect it. He does so well and does so on his own. He is the kindest young man I have ever met,” wrote her nominating teacher.

The students received a MVHS T-shirt.

Every 12 weeks, teachers select a student from each class to honor.

Gilbert concluded, “I thank all these parents. You are an important part of your student’s success and the reason for them being outstanding.”
