1937 – 2015

LACONIA, N.H. — Richard Caron, 78, of Belmont, N.H., died Sunday. April 12, at Lakes Region General Hospital, after a sudden illness.

He was born on Jan. 13, 1937, in Berlin, N.H., to the late Thomas and Ida (Marois) Caron. Richard graduated from St. Dominic Regional High School, Lewiston in 1955 and joined the U.S. Air Force that same year. Richard met and married his best friend, Aline Gagne, in 1963.

Richard worked for Ulbrich Stainless Steel and Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut until 1970. He then worked for General Electric in South Portland until 1983, until he retired from Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in 1999.

Richard was a third-degree knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 10943 Belmont, N.H. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years.

Richard is survived by his three children and their families, Tom and Robin Caron from West Baldwin, Joline Caron from Belmont, N.H., and Irene and Moe Montminy from Londonderry, N.H.; brother, Lionel and wife, Olive Caron, from Berlin, N.H.; sister-in-law, Constance Caron from Lyman; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Yvette and Paul LaChapelle from Lewiston; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rose and John Rogalla from Marseilles, Ill.; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Malika and Roger Gagne from Lewiston; six grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Aline; his brother, Robert; his sister, Cecile; and his brothers-in-law, Sparky and Ray.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Lakes Region General Hospital for the fantastic care Richard and his family was given during their time in need. It means more than anything!
