NORWAY — The First Universalist Church of Norway will present its seventh annual Earth Day Peace Concert on Sunday, April 19^, at 2 p.m. The event will feature live performances by Heather Pierson, Mary Hargreaves, Davy Sturtevant, Nate Towne and the Norway UU Choir.  The program will include songs and readings that celebrate and honor the earth and the idea of peace.

Heather Pierson is a pianist, singer/songwriter and performer whose inspiring live performances and growing catalog of releases illuminate her boundless creativity, delving into Americana, blues, jazz and folk. She also been music director at First Universalist Church since March 2003.  With eight studio albums to her credit, including the most recent, “Motherless Child,” recorded at the Norway church last summer, she is the leader of the nationally touring Heather Pierson Acoustic Trio.   

Singer-songwriter and recording artist Mary Hargreaves delivers down-home folksy songs on guitar and ukulele. Her rhythmic melodies celebrate love, country life and Maine’s beauty. With three self-released CDs including “Love Is Strong,” a studio debut; “Little Pony Express,” a family/kids album and “Set O’ Wheels,” a new collection of original traveling folk songs, Hargreaves keeps on pickin’ and grinnin’. A portion of proceeds from her new album benefits the Arthritis National Research Foundation.

Originally from Erie, Pa., Davy Sturtevant is a veteran touring artist, producer, engineer, songwriter and performer who now makes his home in Lovell.  Armed with a tenor voice and a mighty arsenal of instruments ranging from dobro to fiddle to cornet that come to life in his capable hands, he is at once a witty, thoughtful and engaging stage presence.   In addition to his solo work, he is one third of the Heather Pierson Acoustic Trio.

Local guitar slinger Nate Towne has long been a staple in the Western Maine music scene.  Both solo and in various ensemble projects, he brings both his Southern roots-rock and folk sensibilities to his stage show. He has two self-produced CDs to his credit,  2006’s “Short Circuit” and his most recent release, 2012’s “Empty Tables and Chairs.”

Admission for this concert is just $5 at the door and the proceeds will benefit the church’s Belfry Repair Project.  There will also be a collection of non-perishable food items taken for the Oxford Hills Food Pantry.  The church is located at 479 Main St. in Norway.  For more information, please call 743-2828 or e-mail Pierson at heather@heatherpierson.com.
