PORTLAND — Donald M. Dimambro, 41, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on Friday, April 10, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Don was born in Lewiston, the son of Hazel Cates. He graduated from Lewiston High School with high honors and then went to trade school, where he learned to repair trailer ties. Don worked at Stratton Tire for two years before going to Jay’s Appliances.

He enjoyed watching football, racing, cookouts, the ocean, yard sales and doing artwork. He loved collecting old cars and assembling old car models. Don loved his cats and his bird, Pretty-Girl. He made friends easy and everyone loved him.

Don was predeceased by his twin brother, Ronald Dimambro; and his grandmother, Ruth Durrah.

He is survived by his mother, Hazel Cates; his stepparents, Dan and Shirley Dimambro; his bird, Pretty-Girl; and all of his cats.

I want to thank the nurses and surgeons and staff at Maine Medical Center who took great care of my son and helped Don pass into God’s hands peacefully. I also want to thank them for helping me through the loss of my son. Don was an organ donor and saved two lives with his kidneys. I am very proud of you, Don, for doing this. I love you, Mom.

I loved my son, Don, with all of my heart, and life will be empty without him at home. May he be with Ron, his grandmother and God forever and may he be in peace. Don will be sadly missed.
