LEWISTON — The Lewiston and Auburn Memorial Day Parade will start at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 23, at Kennedy Park in Lewiston and end at the Veterans Park at the corner of Main and Lincoln streets in Lewiston.

Anyone interested in participating should contact Willie Danforth at 777-4759 or Jerry Dewitt,  chairman of the L&A Veterans Council, which is sponsoring the event at Veterans Park, at 576-0376.

The veterans will unveil the Name Stone with 216 names with the emblem of The Seabees, and will also unveil a new bench for Jerry DerBerghogian, who was involved in veteran’s affairs for many years and died last year.

There will be a reading of the names from each Veterans Post who died during the past year.

The Memorial ceremony will have a three-cannon salute and taps will be played by Roger Renaud. A few songs will be done by the Just Us Entertainers with Nel Messervier on the keyboard.

There will several guest speakers, an invocation and the placing of the wreath.

Organizers would like for as many organizations as possible to participate in the parade with either a walking group, a float, horse riders, youth organizations or other groups.

There will be several individuals with folders who can direct people to individual names on the stones.
