Romeo A. “Meo” Leclair

1933-2015

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. — Romeo A. “Meo” Leclair, DDS, 81, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., died peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, at his home, with his wife, Terri, by his side, after losing his battle with diabetes.

After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and completed the last of his four-year tour at Loring Air Force Base in northern Maine.

After his military duty, he attended Western Reserve University, School of Medicine, in Cleveland, Ohio, graduating in 1964 with a medical degree in dentistry. He then moved his family to Cupertino, Calif., and opened his dental practice in 1965. After several years in general dentistry, he decided to attend orthodontic school in San Francisco. Soon after his graduation, he opened his orthodontic practice in Saratoga, Calif., and remained there until his retirement several years ago. After his retirement, he and Terri moved to Sierra Vista, Ariz., where he remained until his death.

Meo enjoyed playing golf, morning coffee with his military friends, and camping, often leaving on extended trips with Terri to visit his sons, Michael and Jeff; his stepson, David Green; and his stepdaughter, Toni. Meo also enjoyed very much spending time with his family whenever possible.

He is survived by his wife, Terri (Green); his sons, Michael and Jeff; his stepdaughter, Toni; his brother, Rene and wife, Irene, in Sammamish, Wash.; his sister, Louise, and husband, Roland Rancourt Jr., in Auburn; and his former wife, Priscilla (Collette) Welch of Oregon. He also leaves behind several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Stephen; his stepson, David; and brothers, Maurice and Danny.

LECLAIR — Romeo A. “Meo,” DDS, 81, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., died peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, at his home after losing his battle with diabetes. His service was held Tuesday, April 21, at 10 a.m. at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery with interment to follow. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Hatfield Funeral Home in Sierra Vista, Ariz.

Donna Chadwick Moriarty

1946-2015  

STAFFORD SPRINGS, Conn. — Donna Chadwick Moriarty, 68, a former resident of Livermore Falls, died very unexpectedly on Saturday, April 4, at her home in Stafford, Conn.

She was born on Sept. 3, 1946, in Everett, Mass., to the late Harold and Grace (White) Chadwick. Soon after her birth, the family moved to Livermore Falls. Donna attended local schools and graduated from Livermore Falls High School in 1964. She then attended the University of Maine at Farmington and graduated in 1968.

Her first teaching job was at St. Rose of Lima School in Jay. She then moved to Stafford Springs, Conn., and worked in the Stafford Springs school system. She later taught for many years at St. Edward’s School. Most recently she was employed at Eastern Connecticut State University. Donna was a faithful parishioner of St. Edward Church, a member of Court Isabella No. 785 Catholic Daughters of America and chairman of the Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of Stafford. She also enjoyed her hobby of crocheting, making potholders, hats and baby blankets, many of which she donated.

Donna is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 39 years, Francis Moriarty; three children, Lisa Moriarty, Jennifer Corti and her husband, Robert, and Jeffrey Moriarty and his partner, Walter Vosburgh; two cherished grandchildren, Matthew and Alexandra Corti; and her brother, Ronald Chadwick and his wife, Sandra.

MORIARTY — Donna, 68, a former resident of Livermore Falls, died on Saturday, April 4, in Stafford Springs, Conn. Funeral services were held on Friday, April, 10, at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc, 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, Conn., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, Conn. Robert Henry “Bob” Scherpf

AUGUSTA — Robert Henry “Bob” Scherpf, 85, of Livermore, died on Friday, April 10, at the Veterans Administration Hospice in Augusta after a brief illness. 

He was born in New York City on Oct. 7, 1929, the son of Alfred H. Scherpf (a New York City firefighter) and Julia A. Scherpf. Bob worked at Dunn’s Farm in Vermont from the ages of 14 to 18. He graduated from William Cullen Bryant High School in New York City in 1947 and entered the U.S. Air Force in 1948. Stationed in Rapid City, S.D., and always a proud American, Bob enjoyed his time with the Air Force until 1952, specializing in artillery school and photography school.

In 1953, Bob joined Troop B of the New York State Troopers Association, where he met his wife, Constance Helen Wells, in Port Henry, N.Y.

While in New York, Bob joined Masonic Lodge No. 816. Bob and Connie were married in 1954 and moved to Wilton in 1958.

Bob worked in the paper industry from 1958 until his retirement from International Paper in 1987.

During his time spent in Wilton, Bob was very civically active with town politics and the school board, overseeing the planning and construction of Mt. Blue High School in Farmington.

He carried his political opinions proudly, was an avid reader and continued to write and call his state representatives in Congress up until earlier this year. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, hunting, enjoying the outdoors and being a good and helpful neighbor to his many friends and family.

He particularly enjoyed coaching young athletes and always found a special place for those in need. He participated in the Maine State Moose Hunt in 2010 and was proud to bring home a moose with his sons, son-in-law and nephew.

In recent years, his favorite pastimes included reading, being politically educated, and interacting and singing with his grandchildren as much as possible.

Bob is survived by his four children: daughter, Diane and husband, Gary Corson, of New Sharon; son, Bob and wife, Rhonda and grandchildren, Ryan and Karli of Kensington, N.H.; daughter, Bethany and husband, Peter Rushton, of North Belgrade; and son, Scott of Etna. He is also survived by his brother, Donald Scherpf and his wife, Mildred, of Bradenton, Fla.; his nephew, Kim Odell of Vermont; as well as many other nieces and nephews.

Bob was predeceased by his folks; his wife, Connie; his sisters, Grace S. Odell and Barbara S. Todd.

SCHERPF — Robert H. “Bob,” 85, of Livermore, died on Friday, April 10, at the Togus Veterans Administration Hospice in Augusta after a brief illness. Family and friends were invited to call Friday evening, April 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, (Routes 2 and 27) Farmington, where public Masonic Services were held at 7:30 p.m., conducted by Wilton Masonic Lodge No. 156. Funeral services with full military honors by the U.S. Air Force, were held Saturday morning, April 18, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Richard Waddell officiating. Following services, a reception was held at the Center. All were welcome. Spring committal services will be held Wednesday, May 20, at 11 a.m. at Lakeview Cemetery, Wilton.
