1927 – 2015

FARMINGTON — Clarence J. Chicoine, 87, a resident of Jay, passed away at Orchard Park Rehabilitation Center on Monday, April 20.

He was born in Chisholm on June 14, 1927, the son of Louis Chicoine and Isabelle (Veilleux) Chicoine. He attended school in Jay. On Sept. 30, 1950, at St. Mary’s Church in Riley, he married Frances Slater. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Clarence worked for International Paper Co. at the Otis and Androscoggin mills in Jay and retired in 1987. He was leader of the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps of George Bunten American Legion Post 10, Amvets Post 33, the Frank L. Mitchell VFW Post 3335 and the International Paper Quarter Century Club.

He enjoyed painting, playing music and traveling, especially their trip to Hawaii. He is survived by his wife of 64 years; his daughter, Deborah Baxter and her husband, Bill, of Leeds; grandchildren, Matt L’ltalien and wife, Ranae, of Sidney, Jami Heeremans and husband, Bill, of Jay, and Jenny MacIsaac and husband, Jeff, of Jay; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Theresa McKenna and husband, Richard, Rita Burke, Doris Wilson and Arlene Landry and husband, Albert; one brother, Roger Chicoine and wife, Vivian; and sister-in-law, Patricia Burgess and husband, Warren, of Massachusetts.

He was predeceased by his son, Richard Chicoine, in 1978; brother, Armand Chicoine; and sister, Christine Harlow.
