AUBURN — Law enforcement agencies across the State of Maine including the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department, Auburn Police Department, Lewiston Police Department, Lisbon Police Department, Livermore Falls Police Department, Mechanic Falls Police Department and the Sabattus Police Department and in partnership with the Maine Drug Enforcement Administration and Healthy Androscoggin will once again give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.
The Drug Take Back will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25.
The Drug Take Back Program is a national initiative that was formed through the federal Drug Enforcement Agency. This year, the DEA turned the administration to the Maine Sheriff’s Association
The collection sites in Androscoggin County will be held at:
Auburn: Bedard Pharmacy, 359 Minot Ave.
Lewiston: Farwell Elementary School, 100 Farwell St.
Lisbon: Lisbon Police Department, 300 Lisbon St.
Livermore Falls: Livermore Falls Police Department, 2 Main St.
Mechanic Falls: Mechanic Falls Police Department, 108 Lewiston St,
Poland: Poland Town Office complex lot, 1231 Maine St.
Sabattus: Sabattus Police Department, 190 Middle Road
Turner: Turner Fire/Rescue Station, 19 General Turner Hill Road

The service is free and anonymous with no questions asked.
If citizens are unable to make the April 25th event they can drop off medication at several drop sites that are available year round which are also free and anonymous. These collection sites are located at the Auburn, Lisbon, Livermore Falls, Mechanic Falls and Sabattus Police Departments as well as the Greene Village Pharmacy located at 19B Patten Road, Greene.
