LISBON — The Town of Lisbon has received the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments’ Transportation Achievement Award in recognition of its Androscoggin River Trail Greenway Project.

The East Coast Greenway, a 2,900 mile trail network linking cities from Maine to Florida provides access to our economic centers, our schools, and our remarkable natural resources. The AVCOG Transportation Achievement Award recognizes achievements in efforts leading to the development of transportation systems that promote safety, efficiency and intermodalism.

The new 1.5 miles Androscoggin River Trail has both river access and links directly Lisbon’s existing Papermill Trail as well as connect to Lisbon Village, Lisbon High School and Lisbon Falls downtown for a total of 3.5 miles of bicycle and pedestrian trails, which allows year-round activities from snowmobiling, cross-country skiing to walking and biking.
