LIVERMORE FALLS — Residents will have a chance to learn about and comment on a proposed $2.37 million 2015 municipal budget at a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 27, at the Town Office.

A referendum will be held June 9.

Among the articles up for discussion are those asking for action on a Property Maintenance ordinance, an update on the Shoreland Zoning ordinance and whether to finance the purchase of a plow truck and a pickup/plow truck at a cost of $229,000.

Also on the warrant is an article asking to withdraw $25,000 from municipal surplus to remove a dangerous building at 22 Gagnon St.

The budget is up about 1.5 percent from the current year.

Other articles ask voters to approve a 7 percent per annum interest rate for unpaid property taxes and sewer assessments.

Most money articles have remained fairly constant. The Livermore Falls Police Department has requested a $10,000 increase to $418,574; the Fire Department remains the same at $95,470; the highway department is down about $3,000 to $349,350; and building maintenance has remained at $81,615. Also, administration remains at $203,203, and the library request is up $50 to $62,718. Administration includes supplies, elections and the annual audit, as well as staff salaries.

Municipal solid waste increased to $114,600 and capital improvements rose to $120,960.

Funding of the traditional $1,000 for the Betterment Group, which sponsors such events as History Night and the Sled-In, is not included on the warrant. However, Town Manager Kristal Flagg said last week it may be part of the warrant for a special town meeting in July that will focus on the town’s tax-increment financing program.

The tax rate will likely be set in late summer. Property taxes would then be due by Oct. 22 for the first half, and March 17 for the second half.
